The Tourbillion

Mechanical watches are almost 500 years old. Intricate in design, today's mechanical and automatic watches feature many complications including chronograph, moon phases, calendars, dual times and the ultimate complication, the Tourbillion.

In laymen's terms, a Tourbillion compensates for the effect on gravity. This concept was invented by the famous watchmaker Brequet because he recognized that the earth magnetic field would effect the accuracy of the movement since it is made of metal. By suspending the balance wheel and balance spring in a cage that rotates once every 60 seconds, the effect is neutralized and the accuracy remains consistent.

The cost of Tourbillion watches can often exceed $100,000 because of the difficulty and time required to produce one. Now, Augusta Galan has perfected the art of the Tourbillion and at an affordable price under $5000.

There are only 7 of these masterpiece mechanical watches remaining in inventory, and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
