The New Chronographs

Auguste Galan is proud to introduce 2 new chronographs to the collection. A chronograph is defined as: A watch that includes a built in stopwatch function - i.e., a timer that can be started and stopped to time an event. There are many variations on the chronograph. Some operate with a center seconds hand which keeps time on the watch's main dial. Others use sub-dials to time elapsed hours, minutes and seconds. Still others show elapsed time on a digital display on the watch face. Some chronographs can be used as a lap timer (see "flyback hand" and "split seconds hand"). The accuracy of the stopwatch function will commonly vary from 1/5th second to 1/100th second depending on the chronograph. Some chronographs will measure elapsed time up to 24 hours. Watches that include the chronograph function are themselves called "chronographs." When a chronograph is used in conjunction with specialized scales on the watch face it can perform many different functions, such as determining speed or distance (see "tachymeter").

Auguste Galan has introduced the chronograph in two distinct styles. The first is a traditional chronograph with two sub-dials for seconds and minutes. This 40mm surgical stainless steel case includes an exhibition case back, synthetic sapphire crystal and genuine black leather strap with deployant clasp.

The second style is a full skeleton version done in a rose gold tone. The design masterpieces is encased in surgical stainless steel finished in a rose gold tone as is the fully decorated hand wind movement. A synthetic sapphire crystal, exhibition case back, and genuine brown leather strap with deployant clasp complete the watch which is sure to be a head-turner.

Today, many people wear chronograph watches and most of them use quartz movements. The hand wind chronograph is truly a work of art to construct the complications necessary to operate the watch. The original chronographs were hand wind watches and so Auguste Galan is taking us back in time to the fine craftsmanship of historical watch makers.

As always, Auguste Galan will offer the watches through their authorized dealer at Wide World of Watches. Here you can shop in confidence on their secure site.

Auguste Galan Dress Watches

In the world of automatic watches, there are many styles. Auguste Galan has a varied collection feature a multitude of looks for every occasion. It seems as the world has become more casual in recent years, so sporty watches have gained tremendous popularity. However, there are still those occasions when one must dress up and that requires an elegant and sophisticated watch.

For 40 years now, quartz watches have dominated the scene and many brands have rushed in to capture a share of the market. Automatic watches have become an item usually reserved for those willing to spend thousands of dollars on a watch. Well, with the introduction of the Auguste Galan collection that has all changed. High quality automatic watches are now not only affordable, but often less expense than many of the quartz brands.

When the need arises for a dress watch, the Auguste Galan Powermark collection should be your watch of choice. This handsome timepiece is available in a goldtone finish with a classic silver/white dial and now is also available in a silver finish with exquisitely detailed gray dial. The goldtone version has a genuine brown leather strap while the silvertone version has a black leather strap. Each watch has a power reserve indicator to monitor the available power in the movement and a 24 hour dial as well.

Should you prefer a bracelet watch, Auguste Galan brings you the Reservist S. This stainless steel beauty has the same features as the Powermark with the 24 hour dial and power reserve indicator, but comes in an all stainless steel case and bracelet with a double spring release clasp. It is handsomely appointed with a crisp blue dial and luminous hands and markers

Finally, the Reservist is the classic dress watch with a few extra bells and whistles to give it that very expensive look. This watch not only has a power reserve indicator, but also has a calendar as well and small seconds hand to complete the look.

The dress watch lives on thanks to Auguste Galan and does so in affordable automatics. The entire collection is available at Wide World of Watches. This is our authorized dealer. If you like the excitement of auctions, please visit Wide World of Auctions where our models are often featured. Both of these sites are secure and supported with excellent customer service.

New Skeleton Watches from Auguste Galan

Continuing to bring you the latest styles, Auguste Galan has introduced a new series of skeleton watches know as Meccanix. This series has a variety of skeleton watch shapes and multiple finishes from steel to rose gold.

The skeleton watch has been around for some time. What has been missing is creative designs to enhance the overall look of the watch. To that end, we have produced several models with diamonds, several with a coin-edge bezel, and still others with genuine leather straps or surgical stainless steel bracelets.

Auguste Galan has a varied collection, but has made a special effort to accent the automatic movement. As with all our watches, each has an exhibition case back to show off the other side of the intricate complications of the movement. As you view the watch, you will notice the detailed decorated movement in action and that often they have been finished in a color to match the watch.

Mechanical watches have been around for more than 400 years. Most of the time, it is hidden behind a dial on top and a solid case back behind. While perfectly functional in this configuration, the simple beauty of more than 100 individual components operating in unison to keep time or manipulate other complications such as calendars or moon phase cycles.
